I wanted to share the story of my amazing experience with Jean and her use of the Franklin Method of training with me, a very new and inexperienced rider. It was my second lesson on a horse after many years and my body was tense and as much as I tried to relax and feel at ease in the saddle, the actual opposite was happening and my gentle companion Cooper could of course sense my trepidation. Jean suggested I use the Franklin balls under my arms , thighs and my buttocks to help me release my tension and help me gain symmetry and balance. After a few minutes of riding around with these balls in place ( and feeling a bit goofy ), she removed the balls and instantly I could feel my body release it’s tension and my pelvis “fall deep” into the saddle. I felt like I was flowing with Cooper instead of just sitting on him and making him walk. A few days later I had an osteopath appointment and my doctor was astonished and how open and relaxed my pelvic muscles and hips were and - as I tend to twist a bit to one side - my back was aligned and straight. This after just one lesson! Jean is amazing and she has guided me to understanding that riding a horse can be likened to having a dance partner and those words have never left me. I have learned to relax and so have my equine partners.
